Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has reportedly caught the attention of Premier League club Liverpool, with the Frenchman said to be on their shortlist for potential summer transfers. The 28-year-old’s contract with Juventus expires in June, making him a free agent come summer.
According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Rabiot can “count on” Liverpool’s interest once he becomes a free agent. This is not the first time Rabiot’s name has been linked with Liverpool. Reports dating back to 2018 have suggested that the Reds were interested in acquiring the Frenchman’s services.
Rabiot himself has spoken about his admiration for Liverpool, telling Tuttosport last month that he has followed the club since childhood. Should he join Liverpool, Rabiot would bring a winning mentality, having lifted 24 career trophies, including seven league titles, across club and international level.
However, signing Rabiot on a free transfer could come with its challenges. Rabiot currently earns €172,500 (£152,000) per week at Juventus, which is a wage that Liverpool may need to match or exceed to secure his signature. There is also the issue of Rabiot’s agent and mother, Veronique, who has reportedly had issues with players and coaches in the past.
Liverpool is reportedly interested in several midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window, and it remains to be seen if they will pursue their reported interest in Rabiot.
