World Rugby has announced the dates and format for the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024. The tournament will consist of three rounds, taking place between January and May, and will feature teams from all six World Rugby regions.
The top four teams from both the men’s and women’s competitions will qualify for a promotion and relegation playoff at the SVNS Grand Final in Madrid. This playoff will feature the teams ranked ninth to 12th from HSBC SVNS 2024, with four successful nations securing their place in HSBC SVNS 2025.
The tournaments will follow the format of the Olympic Games, with 12 teams drawn into three pools of four. The top two from each pool, as well as the two best third-placed finishers, will advance to the knockout stages.

A team of 11 women and nine men from 14 countries has been selected to serve as match officials throughout the tournament, ensuring fair play and impartiality.
The qualifying teams for the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024 have already been confirmed, with representation from Rugby Europe, Sudamerica Rugby, Rugby Africa, Rugby Americas North, Asia, and Oceania.
The tournament will kick off in Dubai, UAE, with both the men’s and women’s competitions taking place from January 12-14. The second round will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from March 8-10, and the final round will see the women’s competition in Krakow, Poland, and the men’s competition in Munich, Germany, from May 18-19.
The pool draw for the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024 is scheduled to take place in Dubai in December 2023, building anticipation for the upcoming tournament.
