Rugby Sevens Repechage Tournament for Paris 2024 Olympic Games Set for Monaco
Monaco has been announced as the host city for the Rugby Sevens Repechage Tournament, which will determine the final spots for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The tournament will be held from 21-23 June 2024 at the prestigious Stade Louis II, known for hosting final qualification events for previous Olympic Games.
A total of 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams will compete in the tournament, battling it out to secure their place in the highly anticipated Olympic Games. Among the strong contenders in the men’s field are South Africa’s Blitzboks, along with Canada, Great Britain, and Spain.
Eleven men’s and eleven women’s teams have already secured their spots in Paris through previous qualification competitions. The Rugby Sevens Repechage Tournament in Monaco will represent the final chance for teams to earn a place at the Olympic Games.

In the men’s competition, teams from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Great Britain, Hong Kong China, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Spain, Tonga, and Uganda will battle it out for a chance at Olympic glory. The women’s competition will feature teams from Argentina, China, Czechia, Hong Kong China, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, Samoa, and Uganda.
Fiji’s men have been reigning champions, clinching gold medals in the previous two Olympic Games. Meanwhile, New Zealand and Australia currently hold the women’s crown.
World Rugby Chairman, Sir Bill Beaumont, expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament, emphasizing the bright future of rugby sevens. Furthermore, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco expressed their honor in hosting the tournament for the third time, highlighting Monaco’s commitment to the sport.
