Kings Guard Kevin Huerter Out for Season After Shoulder Surgery
Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter has undergone season-ending shoulder surgery, coach Mike Brown confirmed on Tuesday. The surgery was necessary to repair a torn labrum, which has ruled Huerter out for the remainder of the current NBA season.
According to the team’s medical staff, Huerter is expected to be fully recovered and ready for the start of the 2024-25 season. However, there is a possibility that he may return if the Kings make a deep playoff run this year.
The loss of Huerter is a significant blow to the Kings’ playoff hopes. The 23-year-old guard has been a key contributor this season, averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Huerter played a crucial role in ending the Kings’ playoff drought last season and his absence will be sorely felt on the court.
In Huerter’s absence, Keon Ellis will replace him in the starting lineup. Ellis, who has been averaging 4.4 points in just over 15 minutes per game, will need to step up and fill the void left by Huerter.
The Kings are currently fighting for a playoff spot in the highly competitive Western Conference, and Huerter’s injury comes at a critical time in the season. The team will need to rally together and find a way to compensate for his absence if they hope to secure a place in the postseason.
