Manchester United are aiming to secure the services of Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich this summer, although the two clubs are currently in disagreement over the player’s valuation. Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with the potential transfer dependent on Harry Maguire’s departure from the Manchester club.
Maguire is believed to be finalizing his move to West Ham United, with a transfer fee of £30m agreed upon, as well as personal terms. Pavard, who has expressed his desire to leave Bayern Munich, can operate both as a right-back and a center-back. The French international is expected to cost Manchester United between £30m and £35m.
While Pavard remains the primary target, Manchester United have also considered other options to bolster their defensive lineup. Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice is believed to be one of the potential reinforcements being considered.
Initially, Bayern Munich had hoped to replace Pavard with Manchester City’s Kyle Walker. However, Walker has decided to continue his career with the Premier League champions, leaving the German club in search of alternative options.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have also confirmed the departure of midfielder Fred. The Brazilian international has completed a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce, with a transfer fee of €10m (£8.6m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.
Fellow Turkish club Galatasaray and English club Fulham had also expressed interest in signing Fred. However, it is Fenerbahce who have secured the services of the midfielder, pending international clearance.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has assured fans that despite the accepted bid from West Ham for Maguire, the defender will be available for their first Premier League game against Wolves. Ten Hag is confident in the team’s preparations during the pre-season, stating that the squad is in good shape both physically and in terms of performance.
As the transfer window approaches, clubs in England prepare themselves for the opening of the transfer market on June 14. The window will remain open until September 1, providing teams the opportunity to make further additions to their squads. Scottish clubs have until midnight on the same day to complete their business.
