The Phoenix Suns’ postseason dreams were shattered after suffering a first-round series sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Star player Bradley Beal spoke out about the team’s struggles, citing poor health and lack of continuity as major factors contributing to their disappointing performance.
Beal himself battled through a myriad of injuries throughout the season, including lower back tightness, nerve pain, ankle sprains, hamstring strains, a broken nose, and a concussion. Despite the setbacks, the Suns showed promise with a 26-15 record when Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant shared the floor together.
However, their Big Three failed to live up to expectations in the playoffs, with the team being outscored by 51 points when they played together against the Timberwolves. Starting guard Grayson Allen was also sidelined with an ankle sprain, further hampering the team’s chances of success.
Beal expressed disappointment in the team’s lackluster performance and stressed the importance of improvement and continuity moving forward. With three years and $161 million remaining on his contract, Beal noted his lower-than-usual scoring averages in the playoffs compared to his regular-season performance.
Owner Mat Ishbia and general manager James Jones are set to address reporters to discuss the team’s season following their early playoff exit. The Suns will need to regroup and address their health issues and lack of chemistry in order to make a stronger push in future postseasons.
