Jesuit High School’s Varsity Rugby Team to Make History in Japan
Exciting news for Jesuit High School in Sacramento County as their varsity rugby team has been selected to compete in a prestigious international tournament in Munakata City, Fukuoka, Japan. This marks the first time a U.S. team has been invited to participate in this renowned event.
The team’s invitation comes as a result of their impressive performance at a national tournament last year. Despite losing key senior players, the team is eager to showcase their talent with a mix of freshmen and sophomores on the roster.
The competition in Japan will be fierce, with teams from Japan and New Zealand, including Southland Boys High School which has a strong history of producing All Blacks. The coaches are thrilled about the growth opportunities this experience will provide for the young athletes.
There is a strong connection between Jesuit teams from Sacramento County and those from Fukuoka. A total of 30 players, two coaches, two administrators, and a trainer will be making the trip to Japan for the tournament.
For many of the players, this will be their first time traveling overseas, making it both an exciting and potentially life-changing experience. The entire Jesuit community is rallying behind the team as they prepare to represent their school and country on an international stage.
