Liverpool Eyeing Leroy Sane as Potential Salah Replacement
Liverpool FC has set their sights on Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane as their top transfer target in the event that Mohamed Salah departs the club. The Premier League giants are preparing for the possibility of losing their star forward and have identified Sane as the ideal successor.
Should Liverpool secure the services of Sane, it would not only strengthen their squad but also benefit Manchester City financially. The Citizens would reportedly earn a substantial sum of over £8 million if the transfer goes through. Sane’s impressive performances at the start of the 2023/24 season have caught the attention of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who is said to be keen on bringing the German international back to the Premier League.
Sane is no stranger to English football, having enjoyed a successful spell at Manchester City. During his time with the Sky Blues, he contributed a commendable 39 goals and 46 assists in 135 appearances, making him a valuable addition to any team. Liverpool, determined to secure his services, are reportedly willing to break their transfer record that currently stands at £80 million, spent on Darwin Nunez in 2022.
However, Bayern Munich, Sane’s current club, are unlikely to let him go cheaply. The winger is under contract with the German giants until June 2025, which further adds to his value in the transfer market. Additionally, Manchester City included a 10% sell-on clause in Sane’s deal with Bayern. This means that if Liverpool were to sign Sane, City would receive a portion of the transfer fee, further highlighting their financial interest in the transfer.
Sane’s time at Bayern Munich has been a mix of highs and lows. In 144 appearances for the German champions, he has scored 45 goals and provided 37 assists, showcasing his attacking prowess. The winger has started the current season in exceptional form, finding the back of the net seven times in just 11 appearances. He attributes his success to the meticulous approach of coach Thomas Tuchel, highlighting the importance of his tactical guidance.
On the other hand, Salah has been a highly successful player for Liverpool, contributing an impressive 192 goals and 83 assists in 315 games. However, Klopp acknowledges that no player can stay forever and that Liverpool must prepare for Salah’s potential departure. The Egyptian forward has previously been targeted by Al-Ittihad, but the lure of a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia may prove difficult to resist.
As the Salah transfer saga continues, Liverpool remains hopeful of securing the services of Leroy Sane. The potential arrival of the Bayern Munich winger would undoubtedly boost their attacking options, while also providing financial benefit to Manchester City. Only time will tell whether this transfer deal will come to fruition, but it is undoubtedly an exciting prospect for Liverpool fans.
