Jesuit High School’s Varsity Rugby Team to Compete in International Tournament in Japan
Forever Sports Online is excited to announce that Sacramento County high school, Jesuit High School, will be sending its varsity rugby team to Munakata City in Fukuoka, Japan for an international tournament. This marks the first time a U.S. team has been invited to participate in the prestigious event.
The team earned the invitation after an impressive performance at a national tournament last year. They will be competing against two Japanese teams and a team from New Zealand, Southland Boys High School, which has a long history of producing All Blacks, the national team members.
Due to an age cutoff for the tournament, the team will consist mainly of freshmen and sophomores. This experience is expected to be invaluable for the young athletes, providing them with exposure to different cultures and elite international competition.
Comprising 30 players, two coaches, two administrators, and a trainer, most of whom have never traveled overseas before, the team is eager to make the most of this significant opportunity. The community and school are enthusiastic and fully supportive of the team’s participation in the tournament.
The trip to Japan is not only a chance for the team to showcase their skills on an international stage but also an opportunity for personal growth and cultural exchange. Stay tuned for updates on Jesuit High School’s varsity rugby team as they represent the U.S. in this exciting tournament.
