Uganda’s Rugby Cranes made headlines recently as they secured an improved rating of 50.38 in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings. This achievement came after their second victory against Tunisia in just five days.
The Rugby Cranes’ first win against Tunisia resulted in a significant leap in the rankings, as they climbed from the 39th to the 37th spot. In contrast, Tunisia, previously ranked higher than Uganda, dropped five places to 42nd after their defeat.
Interestingly, not only Uganda but also the Philippines, Croatia, and Colombia saw improvements in their rankings without even playing, all thanks to Tunisia’s loss. This shows how one team’s performance can have a ripple effect on the rankings.
The impact of Uganda’s 2-0 series win against Tunisia will be seen when the rankings are officially updated on December 4th. At that time, Uganda is expected to gain an additional 1.09 ratings points, bringing them above the 50-point mark. However, they will still remain below Sweden, currently in 36th place.
As for Tunisia, their loss will push them further down the rankings to 48th, which is a total drop of 11 places since the start of the series. This loss serves as a reminder that every match can have significant consequences when it comes to team rankings.
In other matches, Czechia also gained rating points for their victory against Lithuania. Although Czechia remains in 35th place, their win has closed the gap between them and Kenya in 34th place.
On the other hand, Lithuania dropped one place to 43rd due to their defeat, which proved beneficial for Colombia as they moved up to the 41st position.
